Blue smoke from exhaust
1st of October 2016 ... Number of Responses 1 --
Hi, my BMW X5 2007 makes blue smoke after standing for a period of time but engine running.
Like ,if I am standing at the long red light or in a drive through, first thing after pressing the gas pedal to tart to move the car again - there is big blue ( very blue) smelly cloud behind my car. Traffic jams are the worst. Is anything else than Valve seals be wrong in this situation?
Thanks in advance,
Dina

BMW have a common issue with the o rings going bad in the Valve / Timing Cover rather than the valve seals. When the O rings go bad, the engine sucks in oil from various spots. Here is a really good blog where someone explains the same symptoms and how they were fixed.

Other reason may be an issue with the Crank Case Ventilation (CCV).
